• Spend time viewing other user names.  Research what looks good and what doesn’t.  Find out what you like and don’t like.  Emulate the ones you like.

• Don’t add numbers after your name.  It is too easy to confuse “Hank1123” with “Hank1223”, or to type numbers incorrectly.  So, instead of looking up “Hank1123”, they may accidentally look up “Hank1223”. “Hank1123” may have just missed the love of his life due to selecting a generic numbered name.

• Use both upper and lower case for ease of reading.  Capitalize the first character of each word, so the person reading your name can easily figure out the meaning of your name.  There is no sense having a catchy phrase for your user name if people loose patience trying to figure out the meaning.  You only have a few seconds to grab the person’s attention before they look at the next user name.  Make your seconds count.  So instead of “lovetolaugh”, try “LoveToLaugh”.

• Be positive and happy.  You always want to portray yourself as a positive, happy person that men or women will love to be around.  Negativity, rudeness and depression do not entice people.  “LoveToLaugh” is a great upbeat user name which lets people know you are fun to be around and enjoy a good joke.

• Finally, be confident without bragging.  You always want to portray yourself as a confident person that has something to offer people.  But please do not brag.  Avoid screen names such as “MeekGeek” which are self-deprecating.
